I am sorry for the delay in getting this issue out. I have
been having some major trouble with the Onelist/EGroups
service. I can't even get them to reply to my e-mails. Due
to the troubles I have been experiencing from them I have
decided to transfer the list to Topica where the service is
much better. This transfer is in the midst of taking place
but will not be complete for about 2 days. Should you want or
need to unsubscribe from the list you will not be able to do
so until Saturday. Please make note of this. Part of the
list has already been transferred so this issue is being sent

Stumbling blocks to Avoid

Profit by knowing the myths and learning from mistakes that others have made. Save
yourself hundreds, possibly even thousands of dollars and hours of your valuable time.
"I can make money with No Work on the Internet"
In looking for that one right business you will read many advertisements promising to make
you a millionaire for Free. This is a bunch of bull. Nothing in life is free
and you cannot make money by doing nothing.
Before committing yourself to any business you must ask yourself a few questions:
***How much money do I want to make?***
***How much effort am I willing to commit to it?***
***How much time & energy can I devote to it?***
***How much money can I comfortably invest in it?***
Keep in mind that the amount of time you put into your new business will directly relate
to the amount of money you will make from your new business. If you do not have the
time, do you have the money to pay someone else to do it for you? You do not have to
do it all yourself if you are financially able to get help from others.
"The More I offer the more I will make"
This is so untrue! The Internet is all about specialized Niche Marketing. You
must have the one thing that no one else has or you will just get lost in the millions of
sites that are not doing business and have to close shop. You need to specialize in
one type of product or service and make yours unique. This does not mean that you
cannot sell the same type of item that others are, you just need to make what you are
offering much more unique and valuable.
You cannot stay focused when you are marketing many products and services. It is
always best to start with one product or service --- learn all the ins and outs of
promoting & marketing it --- then if you would like to expand add only one very
related product or service at a time. Be sure you learn everything you can about the
product or service before adding more.
"Build it and they will come"
This myth has enticed many people to believe that by just having a website people will
visit and you will start making a ton of money. There is much more to it than that.
*Your website should look professional --- no spelling errors, bad grammar or unexplained
abbreviations.
*Do not add in a lot of flash --- no one likes waiting for graphics to load. Many
people do not use Java or the latest plug-ins that add bells & whistles to a website.
Do not use music unless you give the visitors a way to turn it off.
*Be sure you use good keywords in your meta tags, give your pages a good meta description
and always remember to give your pages a title. All of these things will make
submitting your site to search engines and directories much easier and help you to obtain
a good ranking in many of them.
Once your site is built you have to advertise it like crazy or no one will ever know that
your site exists.
"E-mail Marketing Really Works - I can e-mail everyone"
Yes, correct e-mail marketing is one of the best ways to sell your product or service, but
only when sent to the right, interested people. Do not fall into the spam trap ---
believing that the trouble it will cause is worth the orders you will receive. More
than likely your order form will be shut down long before you get all the orders that you
thought you would.
Keep in mind that there are people on the Internet who live for the opportunity to flame,
mail bomb and complain about SPAM to your ISP.
Proper E-mail marketing will bring you many more orders. Do not buy lists that you
cannot verify as being opt-in lists. Build a list of your own by setting up a
newsletter or list that updates people on your website and products ---- be sure to only
e-mail people that have requested information from you or have asked to be on your list.
Many FFA and Free Classified site owners automatically add the e-mail addresses of those
that place a link or ad on their site to their mailing lists ----- this is not truly
allowing people to opt-in. As much as some people believe this to be perfectly
acceptable, keep in mind that it also shows that the list owner does not care if you truly
want to be on their list or not before you decide to use this method to build your list.
"I know what I'm doing, I don't need help"
This is the worst mistake you can make. If you purchase a marketing plan you owe it
to yourself to follow every single word of it before you decide it is of no use.
Asking for help is your best way to learn the ropes and end up developing your own success
story.
Do not think that the info that you have purchased or requested cannot possibly be perfect
--- this is all to easy to do --- but do not. Read every page, every word of advice
and implement it (unless you are told to do something that is illegal or unethical).
Give every piece of advice you receive a chance before deeming it to be useless.
You only hurt yourself when you refuse to give a new idea a fair chance.
"I can make the wheel work even better"
Instead of struggling along without any help, look for the person that is doing the best
at it right now ---- study what they do.... use what you learn to duplicate their success
and make it your own.
It has long been known that it is always best to follow the success of others. Do
not try to re-invent the wheel -- it already works!
One last suggestion:
Find a mentor that is willing to see you through the good and the bad. The
best mentoring program I have yet to find it is called The Internet Marketing Challenge.

possibly save yourself hundreds (even thousands) of dollars, hours, and a lifetime of
wondering if you could have done it differently.

Creating a Winning Mindset for Marketing on the Net

Although I've been an avid Netpreneur for more than four years, I can honestly say that
1999 has definitely brought more than its fair share of successes to me.
You see, in the beginning of this year I started selling a totally new product.
Almost nine months later, I'm racking in a six-figure income. I've done well before, but
never to this degree. (And to make life even sweeter, I can honestly see myself
reaching millionaire status within the next year.)
Now that I sit back to compare what I did those previous years, to what I'm doing now, I
can clearly see that a huge portion of my current success is due to a change in attitude.
Sounds so simple doesn't it?
Well... believe it or not, it is!
I'm going to tell you exactly what I had to change in my own mindset to achieve these
phenomenal results. When these principles are combined with a salable product AND an
on-point promotional strategy, money making fireworks occur. So feel free to use them
liberally in your own Net sales ventures.
1) Love your customers.
Cuddle them, nurture them, show them that you really do care. Everyday I vow that
I'm going to be a miracle in at least one of my customers lives. The theory is that
the more you help your customers grow, the more they'll help you grow.
Here are a few ways that I show my love:
* Call them up periodically to see how business is going, and offer advice if they need
some;
* E-mail to inquire about projects that they're working on. (They always e-mail me
back with the same reply, "WOW Thanks! How did you remember I was working on
that?")
* Tell them about various opportunities they might benefit from. For instance, if I
run across a chance for publicity, I'll pass it on to customers who I feel can best
utilize it.
As you can see, it doesn't take a lot. Maybe an hour, per customer, per year.
But the results can truly make your bank account bulge in the long run.
2) Focus your energy.
You cannot be everything to everybody. Pick a niche - just one niche - and embody it
completely. Make it yours to the very fiber of your being. (And I mean to
sound very dramatic when I say this.)
I see a gazillion Netpreneurs get swayed by this opportunity, or that affiliate program,
just because others are hyping it up.
I don't get swayed.
I'm queen of one little subject category - (teaching others how to successfully create and
sell information products online) - and I stick to it. If every guru on the Net were
promoting XYZ Widget, I STILL wouldn't sell XYZ Widgets. As much money as the XYZ
salespeople may be making, they don't apply to my niche. So to incorporate them into
my strategy would be foolish.
Don't let yourself be moved every time some new thing hits the Net. Find something
to sell that YOU personally enjoy, and your own enthusiasm will guide you to greater
profits, than any hot, new opportunity.
3) Vow to be the best in your niche.
I didn't fully incorporate this mindset until just a few months ago. But when I did,
business increased drastically.
Anybody who subscribes to my "Stories From a Brain Food Saleswoman" newsletter,
knows that I don't take any shortcomings in this category. I work hard to be number
one, and it's working. Since I made the vow, I have become the best in my niche.
Guru's that I've looked up to for years, are now coming to ME for advice! No longer
do I have to pound on doors to get a little attention... they easily swing open for me.
That feels incredibly good.
But it only comes when you make that internal commitment to transcend all the wanna-be's,
and devote your efforts to being the top dog. There's a local radio DJ who always
says, "Shoot for the moon, and even if you don't reach it, you'll always be among the
stars." Take this point and run with it.
Well there you have it. Three attitude adjustments that transformed my business into
a growing powerhouse. They're very simple principles, but they do require extra
effort to make them work.
Now Go... change your attitude, and grow a rich business!
