I hope you all have had a prosperous week. I have had some
major problems with the upgrading of the server and hope I have
not lost too much email. If you sent me an email and I haven't
answered yet it is probably due to the fact that PSI.net
somehow did not make sure that our email got spooled during the
transition.

Please note that I will be discontinuing to accept Free Ads in
the next few weeks. At present there are 67 ads waiting to be
published. All the free ads will be published in the order
that they have been received. I am in the process of setting
up a secure server and merchants account. Once that is
completed I will be charging for Sponsor ads and Marketplace
ads. I will also be creating opportunity pages on the website
where you will be able to have your ad placed with only 10
other ads on the same page...I will keep you posted.
This should all take place by December 1, 1999

The Best Free Publicity

So you designed a great website and you have submitted your
site to the top search engines. What do you do now to get that
steady stream of traffic.

There are many choices:

Place ads in E-zines.
Pay for search terms with search engines like Goto.com
Use banner advertising.
And the list goes on.

What you would like is some free publicity.

The best way to achieve this is by writing articles and
allowing them to be published free of charge. Your own
articles have the potential to be viewed by millions of
Internet users. How can this be? Very simply, your articles
have the potential to be be published by numerous e-zines with
subscriber bases of merely a few hundred to several thousand.
Plus they may be listed online in e-zine archives or on high
traffic websites.

When you begin writing your articles, avoid using a standard
word processing program, because they do not allow for proper
formatting. Use a text editor such as NotePad or TextPad.
When writing your articles keep in mind that most e-zine
publishers prefer short articles between 500 and 750 words.
Short "tips" articles of just a couple of paragraphs are also
very popular. Be sure to format your articles to 65 characters
per line or less including spaces and write short paragraphs.

Since most publishers receive many article submissions each
week and only select a few to publish here are a few tips to
help you increase your chances of being published:

- The article must be properly formatted. Publishers
won't take the time to format your article, they'll
simply use another article that is properly formatted.

- Keep your bylines (resource box) to 6 lines or less.

- Choose a title that will intrigue your readers.

- Use proper grammar and spelling.

- Avoid articles that are nothing more than a sales
pitch or that refer readers to an affiliate URL since
this can make your article appear to be biased and
untrustworthy.

- Write your articles with a sincere desire to inform.
Talk to your readers and share your own knowledge
and expertise.

Now that your article is ready for publication you will need to
devise a list of publishers that may be interested in
publishing it. Search through the newsletter/e-zine databases
on the Internet for publications that may be interested in the
type of article you've written. Contact the publisher and ask
if they accept article submissions.

Writing and distributing articles on the Internet is the best
method to receive FREE promotion for your business. Not only
will it provide you with free publicity, but if your articles
are accurate and informative, you will become trusted and well
known as a professional in your field.

Let's talk trash about the hundreds of emails that we receive
daily in our email box.

When you submit your website to the hundreds of thousands FFA
Links Pages and Classified Ad Pages, you are going to get a
"thank you for your link" message from the owner of the Page.

* This is why people pay to have these types of pages.
Promotion for their website, business or products on the
internet.

Most marketers use a different email address to collect these
autoresponder messages from the Link Pages. We do "not" read
every single autoresponder message that comes through our email
box, unless..... the HEADLINE grabs our attention.

* The crucial point to this is use your creativity that is
locked in your mind working for your headlines!

If you can get people to your website with your headlines, then
you are doing a great job marketing and promoting your
website. If the people are coming to your website, but not
buying.... well re-do your website. Make some changes.
Get your creativity into high gear!

Don't try to put all of your eggs into one basket (don't try to
sell yourself or your products in one email message.) Let the
visitor ENJOY visiting your website.

Do you have an area on your main page so the visitor can add
their email and receive updates or promotions about your
business or product? Why not? You can get these for FREE!
Put this on every single page of your website.

Do not, and I repeat, DO NOT add someone to your subscriber
list if the person has not requested it! This is spamming
and is a different means of losing your ISP or even worse,
reputation on the internet.

If you are a publisher of a newsletter, by all means....
DO NOT USE THIS METHOD OF GETTING SUBSCRIBERS!
Everyday we submit our website to thousands of FFA Pages
and do you want to know what we receive?
At least 10 newsletters that have added us to
their subscriber list. Want to know what I think of that
newsletter? I will be civil and not make any comments on that.

If you have a FFA Link Page, use your creativity to get people
to "physically" sign up for your newsletter or products. DO
NOT SPAM PEOPLE! Sure, these ezines can boast about their
subscriber number, but guess how they received those
subscribers! By adding people's names who has not requested
their newsletter. Are you going to spend money to advertise
in their newsletters and have thousands of people NOT read your
advertisement?
