My purpose for publishing this newsletter is to provide
you with fresh, up-to-date & thought provoking information
to help you prosper in the Home-Based Workplace. Please

It has just been so busy and will start to get worse I am sure
now that the holidays are almost here. There have been and may
continue to be a few minor problems reaching the website at
http://www.the-work-at-home.com for a few
days (maybe a week).
This is due to upgrading the servers to a T1 Line plus our
Internet Provider has been taken over by PSI.Net (the largest
Internet Provider in the World whose backbone connections run
throughout the world). I am very excited about this. Now
there will be much room to grow. The take over has caused most
of the problems since the previous provider's equipment and
technology was not up to par and they (PSI.Net) are having
trouble trying to figure out many strange configurations.
<Outages have been mainly during evening & late night hours>

Please note that I will be discontinuing to accept Free Ads in
the next few weeks. At present there are 58 ads waiting to be
published. All the free ads will be published in the order
that they have been received. I am in the process of setting
up a secure server and merchants account. Once that is
completed I will be charging for Sponsor ads and Marketplace
ads. I will also be creating opportunity pages on the website
where you will be able to have your ad placed with only 10
other ads on the same page...I will keep you posted.
This should all take place by December 1, 1999

Do You Act Like a Professional?

What does it take to be considered a Professional?
Webster's dictionary defines a professional as engaging
in an occupation for money. Does this mean that by just
engaging in a profession you are a professional? Of
course not. To be considered a professional you not only
need to have a great deal of knowledge and experience in
your chosen field, but you must also conduct business in
a professional manner.
To develop a professional image requires time and effort.
Let's take a look at the areas of your business where you
should show professionalism.
* Communications *
Your attitude can make or break you. The way you deal
with clients, associates, suppliers, other business people,
questions, requests, complaints, and all other types of
business communications will highly reflect on your own
professional image. In all communications you should
consider this before responding.
Always be courteous. Be well mannered, respectful and
warm. Say, "thank you", "please", "You're welcome"
whenever appropriate. Make sure you let people know
that you appreciate their time and effort ---- don't
forget to include letting your clients know that you
appreciate their business.
Never misrepresent yourself or your products/services.
Your honesty with clients and associates will go along
way. Remember that you must earn their trust -- you
cannot do that if you are not honest to a fault. Being
honest will gain you life-long relationships with your
clients and associates.
* Products & Customer Relations *
Always deliver more than was expected. Make sure your
clients receive even more value than they anticipated.
If you don't they will most probably be disappointed
with you and will not become a repeat customer. Repeat
customers are more important than the sale. A repeat
customer will buy more of your products and will praise
your products to others that may buy from you as well.
Always listen to your customers. They will tell you
where you need to improve things. Be sure to let them
know that you understand and that you value their opinions.
Try to look at a customer complaint as a way to learn
how to increase the value of your products and services.
Make yourself totally available to your clients and
customers. Supply them the type of support that you
want when you have a problem with something you have
purchased. Waste no time responding to your clients.
Be certain to find an agreeable solution as quickly as
possible and let your clients know that their satisfaction
is your highest priority.
When a client or customer is totally dissatisfied with
your product or service refund their money with a smile.
Tell them you are sorry and that you would like to know
exactly why they weren't satisfied. Keep in mind that...
"the customer is always right" even if you don't agree.
* Online Aspects *
Your Website should look professionally designed, include
complete product & service descriptions and an easy yet
secure way to order online. You should include complete
contact information (including your phone number) on
every page of your website --- or at least a link to it.
Be polite and courteous to other website owners. Always
acknowledge others legitimate business (not spam) requests,
even if you are not interested.
In doing business, on the Internet or in the real world
you should always remember that you want to build bridges,
not destroy them. Do your best in all aspects and your
business should grow and prosper.

Link to Others as You Would Have Them Link to You

According to a recent industry report, everything on the
Internet is only 19 Clicks away from anywhere else.
Imagine the possibilities through these Links. Nineteen clicks
is not many considering the vast amount of Information found on
the Information Superhighway.
With all other aspects of Advertising, it is easy to forget one
of the most important ways to get those Hits.
You must not forget how crucial it is and will continue to be
to have your link on other person's sites.
Yes, it will take some work. You will need to research some to
find out where it would be appropriate for you to link up!
The best way to do this is to utilize your Search Engine, using
the same keywords you would use to find your site.
Here is an example letter to send if you want to get serious
about linking:
Dear-------,
I liked your Site so much, I put a link at { HYPERLINK
http://www.yoursite.com } http://www.yoursite.com to
it. I hope
it generates some traffic for you. I would appreciate it if
you would visit my site and, if appropriate to your audience,
place a link to my site from yours.
Thank You,
YourName
Use common sense and good judgement when linking to others.
For instance, if your link is for Mothers and Children, you
would not see benefits if you linked with pages about
Hunting, etc.
You may eventually want to have a separate page for Links.
Be sure to invite visitors to submit their links. NEVER add a
link without investigating it first.
To help personalize your site, you may decide to have a Fun
Links, Hobby Links, or Favorite Links Page, also. If this is
the case, have another page separate from your Business Links.
Personalizing your site by using a Fun Links page will give
your Visitors the option to get to know you a little more
personally.
It will help gain their trust. If Visitors cannot trust you,
they will not become Customers.
Finally, to determine who has linked to you, type
link://www.yoursite.com/ in the box at
http://www.altavista.com/ and click the search
button. While
this will not tell you who has linked to you from all search
engines, if they are listed with Altavista, your page and its
links will be revealed.
Bottom line is, you will only waste your time submitting your
URL to Link Sites. You need to have your Link posted on
related or correlated Sites!
Now, get going and Link to Others as You Would Have Them Link
to You!!
