A Review of The Insider Secrets to Marketing Your
Business on the Internet by Corey Rudl

As I sat down to read this course I had myself completely
prepared to be disappointed. I fully expected to find nothing
but a lot of hype as with many other manuals I have bought.

Boy, was I ever wrong.

In the first few chapters, Corey tells you all about his
different businesses - online and offline, how he has automated
his business so that he can vacation and go to the beach
whenever he wants, and of course how much money he has made.
As much as this could be perceived as bragging I realized that
he just wanted to be sure he built enough credibility to ensure
I would listen to what he has to say about marketing in later
chapters.

The marketing approach that Corey teaches is based on how he
has marketed his own products, what he has found that works.
The techniques he teaches are best suited for a website that
sells only one type of product but can easily be modified to
use with any type of business.

The course offers a fair amount of website help, excellent
advice on writing sales copy, information for testing products
& copy, how to price products to sell, the most advice I have
been able to find on e-mail marketing, and tons of examples.

In his e-mail marketing section, Corey doesn't exactly say it
is ok to spam, in fact he highly suggests that you don't, but
he then offers you all the secrets that spammers use. The
reason for this, he states, "is to know what techniques will
make you money, what techniques to avoid ... and more
importantly so you become an Internet expert at all the
different promotional techniques that are out there so that you
can make your own decision on what to do."

As do many people, I have some very strong feelings about spam.
I hate it! It is distracting and time consuming. I do not
feel that it was necessary to make this technique of bulk
e-mailing so easily available.

But I must admit that he gives a wealth of information on how
to increase your response rate using bulk e-mail. He also
explains how to use Mailloop to automate most all of the e-mail
marketing parts of a business. (Mailloop is the best software
product for automation - there is no real competitor as of yet
and can be found at

Corey has tested many Internet Marketing techniques that he
gladly shares the results of in this course. Some of the
techniques he covers are: banner advertising, newsletters,
articles, classified ads, newsgroups, press releases, search
engines, backend and upsell products, joint ventures, associate
programs, and tracking sales from ads.

Corey recommends complete automation before putting a website
online. In my opinion, this can be very costly and unnecessary
when you are just starting out --- although you should research
the areas of automation that you will eventually need to
implement and have a plan for doing so. Be sure that the cost
of automation is warranted before decide to invest in it.

All in all, the quality and amount of information that Corey
offers is clearly worth the $197 price tag. His tips and
tricks will produce a successful Internet business when you
put them into practice.

E-Book Marketing Techniques

The internet is growing at a faster pace than most internet
marketers would like it to. Surfers go from one site to the
next starting their favorite search engine and opening multiple
windows to do their browsing.

This is definitely not good news for net marketers who need to
capture a user in their websites in order for him (or her) to
read their whole sales letter, bookmark the website and buy the
product or service offered.

However, there are still some ways to make a visitor come back
to your site (hopefully as a customer). One of the easiest
ways to do this is by offering e-books to them.

The cost of publishing and delivering an e-book is virtually
none when compared to it's real world counterpart. There are
no mailing hassles, no postage, no handling, no printing costs,
etc. Best of all, people can download it immediately or ask
for it trough an autoresponder and receive it within a matter
of minutes.

In a multi-step marketing process, E-books can become very
important lead generators for your business. When people ask
for it, they are automatically qualifying themselves as
prospects. And if the information you published on your e-book
is powerful enough, these leads will soon become customers.

E-books can even be the product by themselves. If you plan on
selling your e-book, delivery can be placed on autopilot; once
the prospect purchases, he can be redirected to a secret url or
a password protected page where they can download their
e-book immediately.

When using E-books as lead generators, you may consider them as
the best qualifier. Because, if someone is willing to pay for
the lead generator (low ticket item), chances are a lot higher
that he or she will buy back-end products from you.

Using E-books in conjunction with other marketing techniques
can also increase your website traffic. Just for starters,
imagine a contest at your site where the prize will be a copy
of your e-book. Can you imagine the huge mailing list that you
could just generate by doing this? Then how about offering
a special offer of your e-book to the rest of the list? Big
time revenue and minimal hassle.

If your e-book will be distributed freely, why not give other
webmasters permission to distribute it from their websites?
You are providing them with great value (increasing their
website traffic) and you are generating the same traffic to
your site (from the links in your e-book).

You can even sell advertising spots (like banners) inside your
e-books. Specially if you publish them periodically; they
receive much more credibility and generate more expectancy than
a regular ezine.

Another way to sell you e-book is by wholesale. In other
words, you sell licenses not e-books (i.e. reprint rights).
Many web marketers are looking for a good product to sell at
their website, a unique product that is not offered in hundreds
of other sites. Providing this opportunity to just a couple
will create long-term business relationships for you and you'll
still earn some profits.

E-books are something to think about as they are one of the
most powerful marketing trends on the internet today.

There are a lot of articles that cover resume preparation--what
about the cover letter and the follow-ups. A lot of people are
having trouble with follow-up correspondence (i.e., sounding like
a whiner for a job, etc.) We need some professional examples to
help us. Thanks!
